MIDWEEK DIRT RACING: Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) driver, Kyle Larson will return to the dirt this week for three nights of racing before heading to Michigan International Speedway. On Tuesday, he will pilot the Silva Motorsports Chevrolet Accessories/ Steidinger Foods/ Finley Farms No. 57 with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway (FALS). He will follow that up with two nights of USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series racing at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway and Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind., during the 15th annual Indiana Midget Week in the Keith Kunz Motorsports No. 97.
STEIDINGER FOODS: Steidinger Foods has partnered with Silva Motorsports and Kyle Larson Racing to be featured on the No. 57 driven by Larson and Carson Macedo’s No. 2. Both drivers will be participating in an autograph session starting at 4:30pm CT on Tuesday located at the Steidinger Foods booth at Fairbury American Legion Speedway.
FAIRBURY 2018: Last year, Larson competed in the World of Outlaws inaugural event at FALS. He kicked off the night by qualifying second and winning his heat race. He earned an outside of the third row starting spot for the 40-lap feature event by finishing sixth in the dash. Early in the main event, Larson slipped back as far as 11th before slowly gaining positions at the quarter-mile bullring and breaking through to the top-five by the halfway mark. In the closing laps of the race, Larson was able to gain two more spots, rounding out the podium with a third-place score.
2011 INDIANA MIDGET WEEK: The Elk Grove, Calif., native competed in his first Indiana Midget week in 2011 with Keith Kunz Motorsports. He earned four podium finishes, including a runner-up finish after a battle to the end with Bryan Clauson at Lincoln Park Speedway (CLICK HERE to watch) and a win at Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway, his career-first USAC National Midget win (CLICK HERE to watch). He eventually finished in the runner-up spot in overall IMW point standings to Bryan Clauson.
INDIANA MIDGET WEEK HISTORY: Since 2011, Larson has not competed in a full IMW, but in 2012 he earned top-five scores in all three of the races he participated in, including a win at Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway. The following year he earned a win at Gas City I-69 Speedway and a pair of runner-up finishes that came at Lincoln Park Speedway and Kokomo Speedway. Larson returned to IMW in 2016 and scored the victory at Montpelier (Ind.) Speedway and another podium finish at Gas City Speedway. In 2017, Larson finished third at Montpelier Speedway and 18th at Gas City I-69 Speedway. Last year, he only made one appearance at IMW and swept the entire night earning quick time, setting a new one-lap track record which he held from 2017, won his heat race, setting a 10-lap track record, and picked up the win after starting from sixth.
