MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 17, 2018) – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wrapped up their second and final west coast swing of the season this weekend at Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway. The Kyle Larson Racing team and Shane Stewart competed in two nights of racing at the scenic half-mile circuit and earned two top-10 finishes.

Friday night Stewart qualified eighth and advanced one position in his heat race to finish second and advance to the Sears Craftsman Dash. Stewart’s daughter, Nixon, drew the 2 wrench and the Bixby, Okla., native lined up on the outside of the front row of the dash and finished fifth. He started the 25-lap feature from the inside of row three and finished seventh.

The following night, Stewart qualified 10th and gained a position in his heat race to finish third. He lined up seventh and ran in the sixth spot for most of the race as the track took rubber about halfway through. With two laps remaining, the caution was displayed. Stewart slipped two positions on the green-white-checkered restart as a result of having a tire slowly losing pressure under the caution, finishing eighth.

“It’s a bummer the track took rubber at the end there both nights,” said Stewart. “I felt like I had a really good car Saturday night, I just wish our finish would have shown that, but that flat tire at the end killed my restart. I think we found a good package and hopefully it’ll work well at some of the big tracks we’ve got coming up.”

The KLR team makes the long haul back east and will be back on track Friday at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for the BeFour the Crowns Showdown followed up by the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Penn., on Saturday. For ticket information for both races, please visit
