MOORESVILLE, N.C. (November 12, 2019) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series concluded the 2019 season this past Saturday night at the Can Am World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Carson Macedo scored a top-10 finish on Friday night, followed up by a 16th-place result on Saturday.

Opening night of World Finals was qualifying for the World of Outlaws for Friday and Saturday night’s respective shows. Macedo qualified 13th in the first flight of time trials for Friday night and fifth for Saturday’s portion.

Friday night, the pilot of the Chevrolet Accessories/ Tarlton and Son, Inc./ Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions advanced from fifth in the opening heat race to finish second and earn a spot in the first DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. Macedo finished fifth in the dash to start the 25-lap feature event from the inside of the fifth row, before finishing in 10th.

In Saturday’s World Finals finale, Macedo charged from his front row outside starting spot to the lead, earning the win and another spot in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. He advanced one position in the opening dash to earn the fifth starting spot for the 30-lap feature event. On the opening lap, Macedo brought out the caution after contact with another competitor resulting in a spin in Turn 4. After going to the work area to make repairs, he returned to the track and advanced to a 16th-place finish.

“Although World Finals this year didn’t go exactly as planned, I’m very proud of my KLR team,” said Macedo. “We had speed all weekend and as long as we have that, the results will eventually be there. We were able to position ourselves both nights in the Fast Pass Dash and if you want to win these outlaw races you have to get into those dashes. They help put you in position to win these World of Outlaw races. Joe and Trey did an incredible job all weekend with my car.”

Macedo ended his first outing on the World of Outlaws tour with 47 top-10s, 18 top-five finishes, 14 heat race triumphs and six DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash wins. In addition, he’s earned four A-Main victories, the first came in his home state at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., followed up by Jackson (Minn) Motorplex, Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., and Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway. He finished sixth in the championship point standings and earned the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year honors.

“With the season coming to a close, I look back on 2019 and am proud of what our KLR team has been able to do in our rookie season,” said the Lemoore, Calif., native. “I’m very thankful for the opportunity that Kyle Larson has given us and I know we will work hard as a team to give him the results that he deserves. I want to thank all the sponsors and every single person that has put time and effort into 2019. I look forward to 2020, I think our team will only continue to build and get better!”

Macedo will spend this off season competing in select midget races in his home state of California before partnering back up with Dyson Motorsports for sprint car and midget races in Australia. Macedo and Kyle Larson Racing will be back in action with the World of Outlaws for 2020.
