MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 17, 2019) – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wrapped up a weekend in the Sprint Car Capital of the World this past Friday and Saturday. Kyle Larson Racing and Carson Macedo competed at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway for the Brownells Big Guns Bash and scored a pair of top-ten finishes.
Friday night, Macedo kicked off the weekend by earning quick time in Flight B of time trials and won his heat race from the pole starting position. After gaining two spots in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash to finish fourth, Macedo started the 25-lap feature event from the outside of the second row. He slipped back slightly on the start but maintained the position to finish sixth.
The following night, after a delayed start as a result of rain, the Lemoore, Calif., native qualified sixth in the opening flight of time trials. He went on to finish third in his heat race, earning him the 11th starting position for the 25-lap feature event. Macedo raced as high as eighth early in the main event but fell back to 10th until he gained one position on the final lap to earn a ninth-place finish.
“For us, Knoxville was up and down,” said Macedo. “I felt like we had speed all weekend. We were able to qualify pretty well both nights, whiich is huge with the Outlaws. I think that I need to work on a few things as a driver in order to be just like little bit better come August when we go back for the Nationals.”
The Kyle Larson Racing team will be back in action Saturday, June 22 at Beaver Dam (Wisc.) Raceway for the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial.
