MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 19, 2019) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series wrapped up the Second Leg of the Northern Tour this past Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. Lemoore, Calif., native Carson Macedo rallied from 12th to earn a top-five finish.
Macedo started off the night at the high-banked, quarter-mile circuit by qualifying 12th out of 31 competitors. He started and finished fourth in his heat race to earn the 12th starting position for the 40-lap feature event. The pilot of the Chevy Accessories/ Tarlton and Son, Inc./ Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions No. 2 quickly made his way into the top-10 and by the halfway point of the race, he was just outside the top-five. On lap 28, Macedo moved into the top-five and maintained the position to earn a fifth-place finish at River Cities Speedway.
“Our team did a great job to fight back after an average start to the night at River Cities,” said Macedo. “Our goal every night is to make the dash, it gives you an opportunity to start up front and have a much better shot at winning these outlaw races. So, to be able to start 12th and still put it in the top-five says a lot about my team. Joe is a great mechanic and usually by the end of the night we can put something together to pass some cars and fight back for a good finish if the start of the night doesn’t go as planned.”
The Kyle Larson Racing team and Macedo will be back in action next Friday night at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. for the NOS Energy Drink Rushmore Outlaw Showdown, followed up by The Brawl at Big Sky Speedway in Shepherd, Mont.
