MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 11, 2019) – The Kyle Larson Racing team returned to Carson Macedo’s home state this weekend with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Despite the opening night at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., being canceled due to rain, Macedo was able to earn a top-10 finish at what is one of his favorite tracks on Saturday.

Macedo kicked off Saturday night by qualifying fourth out of 33 competitors. After the first two heat races were completed, rain began to fall at the 1/3-mile circuit. The track crew worked hard to ensure the show continued on and despite an hour and a half delay, cars returned to the racing surface. The Lemoore, Calif., native started on the pole of Heat 4 and led every lap, claiming the win to transfer into the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash.

Macedo started from the outside of row three for the six-lap dash and finished seventh. He started from the inside of row four for the 35-lap feature event. After a multi-car accident on the front stretch on the start of the race, the remainder of the event went green. Macedo had some good battles for positions before ultimately finishing eighth at Thunderbowl Raceway.

“The Thunderbowl is always one of my favorite places to go,” said the 22-year-old driver. “There is always intense close racing! I was pretty happy with our speed early in the night, we were able to put ourselves in the dash again which is very important if you want to win these World of Outlaw races. After the 35-lap feature we ended up eighth and although it was another top-10, I feel like I could have done a better job, but that’s something to build off of heading into Chico and Stockton this weekend.”

The Kyle Larson Racing team will continue the World of Outlaws spring west coast swing next weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., and Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track.
