MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 26, 2019) – Leading Rookie of the Year contender, Carson Macedo, earned his fourth victory of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ season in a thrilling feature last night at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway.
Macedo opened the night by qualifying second and picked up the win in the second Drydene heat race. After starting fourth in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash, he advanced two positions to earn a front row starting spot for the 40-lap feature event at the quarter-mile circuit.
At the drop of the green flag, the pilot of the Chevy Accessories/ Tarlton and Son, Inc./ Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions No. 2 seized the lead and led the first 15 laps before falling back to the runner-up spot. Macedo slipped one more position following a restart at the halfway mark of the race, but quickly regained momentum and moved back into second. With 14 laps remaining, Macedo capitalized on a slight mistake made by the leader to regain the top spot. He survived one more caution to earn his fourth victory of the season.
“I am just a lucky guy to race with Joe Gaerte,” said Macedo in Victory Lane. “My car just kept getting better and better as the race went on. Hats off to all my guys – Joe, Trey, Marty and Jeremy – what an incredible effort by this No. 2 team. Kyle Larson gives us great race cars and I can’t thank Chevy Accessories, Tommy Tarlton, Sean Dyson, GoPro Motorplex, Lucas Oil, Durst Inc., Slade Shock Technology and everyone who is a part of this team for all that they do. I’m just speechless, it’s my first year out here and my goal was to win races and I am glad that we’ve been able to win a few.”
The Kyle Larson Racing team will be back in action this Friday at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for the BeFour The Crowns Showdown followed up by the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Penn., on Saturday.
