ELK GROVE, CA (September 9, 2019) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series wrapped up their first of two weekends in the Golden State. Carson Macedo and his Kyle Larson Racing team didn’t open the Gold Cup Race of Champions like they had hoped for, but were able to rebound with a seventh-place finish in Saturday night’s finale at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif.

Friday night, after being the quickest car in hot laps, Macedo fired off for qualifying and as he was coming around to complete his opening lap, jumped the cushion in turn 4 and hit the outside wall. Unfortunately, as he was one of the last qualifiers of the night, there wasn’t enough time to make repairs and didn’t get a chance to earn a qualifying time. The Lemoore, Calif., native advanced four spots in his heat race to finish sixth and earn the final transfer spot to the feature event where he finished 20th.

The following night, Macedo kicked off the Gold Cup finale by qualifying sixth and finishing second in his heat race, advancing into the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. He finished fifth in the dash to earn a third row starting spot for the 40-lap feature event where he finished seventh.

“It wasn’t the Gold Cup that we were hoping for,” said Macedo. “I hurt us big time in qualifying on Friday night which put us in such a deep hole that it was hard to come back from. Joe, Trey and Marty did a great job all weekend. I felt bad for them because Chico is a place where I expected us to have two very good nights. We were able to rebound Saturday with a seventh-place finish. Hopefully we can build some momentum and consistency heading into Placerville.”

The Kyle Larson Racing team will be back in action Wednesday night at Placerville (Calif.) Speedway for the 49er Gold Rush Classic. If you are unable to make it to this event, it will be streamed live on DIRTVision.
