MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 3, 2019) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series wrapped up the inaugural weekend at Nashville (Tenn.) Fairgrounds Speedway this past Saturday night. It was an up and down weekend for Kyle Larson Racing and Carson Macedo, but they were able to ultimately earn the KSE Hard Charger award Friday night and a top-10 score in Saturday’s finale.
Friday night, Macedo hit the Turn 4 wall in time trials, resulting in a flat tire, but his KLR crew was able to make a quick change for him to make another lap. After qualifying 11th in Flight 2, Macedo went on to finish ninth in his heat race. He started seventh in the Last Chance Showdown and finished third, advancing him into the 30-lap Music City Nationals feature event. The Lemoore, Calif., native started 23rd, was able to survive one caution and advanced five spots in the main event to finish 18th, earning the KSE Hard Charger award.
The following night, Macedo qualified 36th and started ninth in the fourth heat race. He was able to avoid a multi-car spin on the opening lap of the heat to finish third and earn the 12th starting position for the 30-lap $25,000 to win Music City Nationals finale. Macedo was inside the top-10 by lap 2 and moved up three more positions on a track that was difficult to pass on to finish seventh.
“Nashville was a bit of a toss-up for us,” said Macedo. “We got behind the ball early both nights in qualifying but were able to rebound both nights. The World of Outlaws and Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway put forth a huge effort to have a great event, so it was nice to see them get such a great turnout. I am looking forward to getting to Fairbury tomorrow. It is a neat little bullring track, similar to places I grew up racing at in California and Joe [Gaerte] and I have had success at in the past. The Outlaws put on a great show there last year and I am looking forward to be a part of it this year!”
The Kyle Larson Racing team with Macedo as well as team owner Kyle Larson in the Silva Motorsports No. 57 will be at Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway Tuesday, June 4 with the World of Outlaws. Both drivers will be participating in an autograph session at the Steidinger Foods booth starting at 4:30pm.
