GOING FOR GOLD: After four races in the Northwest, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will make their way down to the Golden State this weekend for two nights of racing at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. Carson Macedo and his Kyle Larson Racing team return to the site of his first two World of Outlaw triumphs this Friday and Saturday night for the 66th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.

TWICE AS NICE: In 2014, the Lemoore, Calif., native scored his career-first World of Outlaws victory at the quarter-mile bullring during the opening night of Gold Cup. Macedo qualified fifth, finished fourth in his heat race and second in the dash before bringing home the victory. Earlier this year, in his rookie season with Kyle Larson Racing, the pilot of the Chevrolet Accessories/ Tarlton and Son, Inc./ Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions was quick time and won his heat race before finishing seventh in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash earning a fourth row starting spot for the feature event. Macedo was able to survive a caution plagued race and seized the lead after a restart on lap 20 to earn his first World of Outlaws victory in his rookie season.

WILLAMETTE RECAP: Last night at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., Macedo qualified 13th and finished seventh in his heat race. After starting ninth in the qualifier, he gained two spots to finish seventh. Macedo started the 30-lap feature event from the sixth row and finished 11th.

READY FOR A RETURN: “Chico is an awesome place,” said Macedo. “It’s always been one of my better tracks and I’m excited to get a weekend full of fun in. Last time we were here my car was incredible all night, so hopefully we can repeat and have the same results. I know Joe, Trey, and Marty will do their best to put the best car on the track possible for me.”
