MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 26, 2019) – Leading rookie of the year contender, Carson Macedo, and his Kyle Larson Racing team picked up their third win of the World of Outlaws season this past Friday night in the NOS Energy Drink Rushmore Outlaw Showdown at Black Hill Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. The team followed that victory up with a 10th-place finish Saturday night at Big Sky Speedway in Shepherd, Mont.

Macedo kicked off his first ever visit to Black Hills Speedway by qualifying 12th and was able to advance from sixth to finish second in his heat race. He gained one spot in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash to earn an outside front row for the $20-to-win NOS Energy Drink Rushmore Outlaw Showdown feature event.

The pilot of the Chevrolet Accessories/ Tarlton and Son, Inc./ Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions No. 2 got the initial jump for the start of the 25-lap feature, but the caution was displayed and they reverted back to a complete restart. On the second start, Macedo settled into the runner-up spot until the caution was again displayed on lap 9. On the ensuing restart, the leader picked the outside lane. Macedo was able to get the jump and never looked back to pick up his third win of the season.

“I was really struggling to get off of (turn) two,” Macedo said in Victory Lane. “Then I’d get tight in turns three and four and I didn’t really know what to do. I know we started to fade there a little bit, but I tried to keep my pace as best I could. My guys did a really good job. I say it all the time, this sport is weighed on mechanics and they do a really good job and I can’t thank them enough. It’s hard to win these Outlaw races. They’re not easy to win. These are the best drivers in the world. Your car has to be good. You have to be good. You have to make good decisions throughout the race. You have to have good starts. It all goes hand and hand. I think if we can continue to do that, we’ll see ourselves up here more often.”

The following night, Macedo qualified third and won his heat race to advance into the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. He drew the five pill to start and finish fifth in the dash. The Lemoore, Calif., native started the feature event from the inside of row three and finished 10th.

The Kyle Larson Racing team will be back in action this Friday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., for the World of Outlaws at Skagit presented by Scotties Plumbing double-header.
