NEW YEAR, NEW TEAM: As we roll into a new decade, the Chili Bowl Nationals will look a little different for NASCAR Cup Series star, Kyle Larson. For the first time since 2012 he will not be competing out of the Keith Kunz Motorsports stable. Instead, he will pilot his self-owned Kyle Larson Racing/ Lucas Oil/ iRacing No. 01 Midget with Paul Silva on the wrenches.

LARSON’S CHILI BOWL: The Elk Grove, Calif., native’s off-season continues this coming Tuesday for his Qualifying Night at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla., as well as the Vacuworx Invitational Race of Champions (VIROC). The top-two finishers from each of Qualifying Night’s A-Main will lock into Saturday’s 55-lap championship finale. CHILI BOWL STATS: The 27-year-old has competed in the famed Chili Bowl Nationals each year since 2008. In 12 attempts, Larson has made the Saturday finale on eight occasions, five of which he locked into by winning his preliminary night. He has made eight VIROC feature events, finished on the podium six times and claimed victory in 2014 and 2017.

LARSON ON THE CHILI BOWL: “I look forward to the Chili Bowl every year,” said Larson. “This year will be a little different for me as it will be the first time I’m competing in my own midget. But Paul [Silva] is one of the best mechanics out there and hopefully we can check this prestigious event off our list.”
