MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 24, 2018) – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wrapped up a weekend back on the east coast. The Kyle Larson Racing team and Shane Stewart competed at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Friday night and made the trek to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Penn., on Saturday.
Friday night at Eldora Speedway, Stewart qualified seventh in Flight A of time trials and finished third in the opening heat from a fourth starting position. Stewart started ninth for the 30-lap feature event and finished 17th.
The following night, Stewart was the first car out for qualifying and earned the 10th-quickest time. He finished third in his heat race and started 10th in the 35-lap feature event. On a lap 2 restart, Stewart got sideways and collected another competitor. Both came to a stop and went to the work area, but were able to return. After restarting at the rear of the field, the Bixby, Okla., native climbed to a 14th-place finish.
“Our performances and finishes have not been that great this year,” said Stewart. “But I can tell you it is not from a lack of effort put in by everyone on this team. We have a few more races left to get back on the right path and hopefully collect a few wins. I know we are capable of doing that.”
The KLR team will be back in action Friday and Saturday, September 29 and 30 for the National Open at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Penn.
