MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 16, 2020) – With the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series currently placed on hold, Kyle Larson Racing and Carson Macedo made the long haul from Texas to Pennsylvania to compete in the season opener at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg.
After starting fifth in the fourth and final heat race of the afternoon, Macedo advanced three spots to finish second. The Lemoore, Calif., native locked himself into the 25-lap feature event and drew the third starting position. Despite slipping back on the initial start, Macedo advanced back into the top three on Lap 13. Four laps later, he claimed the top spot just before the caution was displayed. Macedo maintained the lead in the final laps to earn his career-first victory at Williams Grove Speedway.
“That was a 100% team effort, said Macedo. “This is without a doubt one of the biggest wins of my career. I have left this place a few times thinking maybe I just don’t have it here; I just can’t figure it out. But to be that good today, it definitely made the trip from Texas worth it, I can’t believe I’ve won a race here. Huge thank you to my crew, Kyle, Paul, everyone that is a part of this race team. We’ve got a really good group of people and it’s a team effort.”
As of now, the Kyle Larson Racing team is scheduled to be back in action when the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink season resumes Friday, April 10 at Merced (Calif) Speedway.
