BUSY SEASON: One of the busiest weeks of the season kicks off this Friday night. The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series heads to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., this Friday and Saturday for the Ironman 55. After their longest race of the year, the Kyle Larson Racing team and Carson Macedo will head to the Sprint Car Capital of the World for the Capitani Classic on Sunday at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway followed up by the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Monday.
IRONMAN 55: Macedo has competed in the Ironman weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. In 2017, he qualified 22nd and finished fourth in his heat race to advance to the Prelude to the Ironman feature event. After starting 14th, Macedo was running inside the top 10 when a nozzle line fell off, resulting in a 22nd-place finish. In 2015, with Shane Stewart behind the wheel, KLR (then Larson Marks Racing) picked up the prestigious Ironman 55 victory.
CAPPY CLASSIC: The Lemoore, Calif., native has competed in the Capitani Classic the last two years. In 2017, Macedo qualified 29th in Group 1 of time trials, finished sixth from 10th in his heat race and 13th from 19th in the first of two B-Mains. Last year, while piloting the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41, he qualified second in Round 2 of time trials, finished third in his heat race and earned a runner-up finish in the feature event. Stewart and LMR won the Capitani Classic during two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016.
FRONT ROW CHALLENGE:In 2017, the year that Stewart and LMR won the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway, Macedo earned a sixth-place finish. Last year, he didn’t compete in the Front Row Challenge, but did pilot Tony Stewart’s No. 14 and took home the big win in the Ultimate ASCS Challenge.
