JACKSON NATIONALS: This weekend the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series heads to Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex for three big nights of racing. Shane Stewart and the Kyle Larson Racing team will take on the 40th Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals at the recently renovated 4/10-mile dirt oval.
JACKSON MOTORPLEX HISTORY: At last year’s Jackson Nationals, Stewart earned three top-10 scores, always advancing from his starting position in the feature. On the opening night, he started 12th and finished 10th, followed up with a 12-position gain and the KSE Hard Charger award on Friday night. In Saturday night’s finale, Stewart started sixth and gained two spots to finish fourth. The team had one other start at the track in 2016 where Stewart started sixth and finished third.
FALS RECAP: Tuesday at Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway, team owner Kyle Larson joined KLR and Stewart at the World of Outlaws inaugural visit to the 3/8-mile circuit. Larson qualified second in the Silva Motorsports No. 57 and Stewart qualified 20th in the KLR No. 2. They were both in the second heat race where Larson won, earning a position in the Sears Craftsman Dash and Stewart finished sixth, transferring him into the 40-lap feature. Larson finished sixth in the dash, lining him up to start in row three for the main event. Larson half-spun on the second lap and fell outside of the top 10 but raced his way into the top five before spinning again with another competitor. Both were able to keep going and red flag conditions came out giving both drivers their positions back. During a late race restart, Larson jumped into third and finished on the podium, while Stewart finished 17th.
