MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 8, 2018) – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series took on two tracks in two different states this past weekend. Friday night at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., Shane Stewart and Kyle Larson Racing earned a top-five finish and then scored a top-10 the following night at Salina (Okla.,) Highbanks Speedway.

KLR kicked off the weekend with the team’s first visit to Lake Ozark Speedway on Friday and began the night by qualifying eighth. After starting third in his heat race, Stewart was caught up in an early multi-car spin. After restarting fifth, he climbed his way back up to third, earning the eighth starting spot for the main event. The pilot of the DC Solar No. 2 quickly jumped up to seventh on the start of the 40-lap feature and survived two cautions after the halfway mark of the race to earn a solid fourth-place finish.

The following night, the nearby Bixby, Okla., native qualified fifth at Salina Highbanks Speedway and finished second in his heat race. He drew the 1 pill to start on the pole of the Craftsman Club Dash and went on to lead the entire way, earning the pole starting position for the 30-lap Twister Showdown.

On the opening lap of the main event, Stewart got high in turn four and over the cushion, hitting the tires on the exit of the turn. After making repairs to the DC Solar No. 2, Stewart tagged the tail end of the field and was back up to 11th by lap 10. In the closing laps of the Twister Showdown, he was able to steal one more position to earn a top-10 finish.

“It started out as a decent weekend for us,” said Stewart. “But then the driver misjudged the corner in Saturday night’s main event on the opening lap. I love coming back to Oklahoma to compete, it’s a race I look forward to every season and my guys gave me such a fast DC Solar car all weekend and I hate that’s how it ended up for us. Still, finishing fourth Friday and coming back up to 10th on Saturday isn’t a bad weekend. We’re still up in the points and hopefully we can start racking up the wins here soon.”

The Kyle Larson Racing team will be back on track this weekend for the #LetsRaceTwo event at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. For ticket information, click here.
