MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 12, 2018) – The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series wrapped up their first weekend in California this past weekend at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. Shane Stewart and the Kyle Larson Racing team finished 16th on Friday night’s competition, before Mother Nature unfortunately took home the win on Saturday.
On Friday, Stewart qualified 10th in the opening flight of qualifying and finished fifth in his heat race. The Bixby, Okla., native started the 35-lap main event from 19th and slipped back to 21st on the start. Stewart restarted in the 18th spot on after a caution on lap 20. In the closing 15 laps he was able to pick up two more positions to finish in 16th-place.
“It was a tough night for us on Friday,” said Stewart. “I really wanted to be able to come back on Saturday for a little bit of redemption, but Mother Nature had other plans. My team continues to work hard to find the speed in our DC Solar No. 2 that we need to be in contention to run well. I am surrounded by a great team and I know we will be back up front soon.”
The KLR team will be back on track Friday, March 16 at Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track for two nights of the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout.
