TWOFOLD IN TULARE: This Friday and Saturday kicks off the first of three racing weekends in the Golden State for Kyle Larson Racing (KLR) and Shane Stewart. The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is set to compete at the popular Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., this weekend.

THUNDERBOWL RECORD: Since KLR has been on the World of Outlaws’ tour full-time, Thunderbowl Raceway has been one of Stewart’s best tracks. In his five starts at the high-banked, third-mile oval, he has racked up two quick-times, two heat race and dash wins, and four second-place finishes.

LAST YEAR AT TULARE: On Friday night, Stewart was the third-quickest qualifier and went on to win his heat race and the Craftsman Club Dash. The Bixby, Okla., native led the initial 31 laps of the 35-lap feature before trying to block on a late race restart, relegating the lead and resulting in a runner-up finish. The following night, Stewart was quick-time, finished second in his heat race and won the Craftsman Club Dash. He started on the pole of the main event but had a couple of bad restarts before the track went rubber-down with single-file racing resulting in a sixth-place finish for Stewart.

STEWART ON THE TRICKY TRACK: “Tulare is one of my favorite tracks,” said Stewart. “It’s one that you have to get up on the wheel to get the job done and I look forward to getting back there each season. We’ve been in contention to win just about every time we’ve been there since we started as a team and I hope we can pull that off this weekend.”

LOOKING AHEAD: Following Saturday night’s race, the KLR team will be back on track for a double-header Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17 at The Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track for the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout.

KLR OWNER: KLR is owned by NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series (NMECS) driver Kyle Larson. The Elk Grove, Calif., native will be competing at ISM Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz., for Sunday’s TicketGuardian 500.

KLR TEAM: The Kyle Larson Racing team is led by general manager Paul Silva of Sacramento, Calif., and crew chief Lee Stauffer of York, Penn., with Heath Moyle of Middleburg, Penn., and Jakob Weaver of Coldwater, Mich.
